203 Alternative Lifestyles

June 30, 2006

A so-so episode. Not bad but a bit lacking in the emotional weight that is packed into most DC episodes.

202 Crossroads

June 30, 2006

Happy birthday Pacey!

What an opening scene too…

Dawson: Mum and dad. Hey. Erm, you remember Joey right?

Then of course there is “the talks” administered by them to Dawson and Joey. And then at the end Dawson and Pacey make up and everything is cool again and awww, it’s so nice.

201 The Kiss

June 29, 2006

Opening on where it left from series 1 it’s like things never stopped. But things have – it’s all lighter and more spring. And Pacey’s new hairstyle reflects the mood as does Joey’s attitude.

Bessie: A person can, but you are miss. permascowl

And in arrives Andie! It’s all how I remember it. Pacey pretending to be a cop, it’s brilliant, I love this show. There is still lovable creek here too, the awkward almost kiss in the hall. And on the dock too. Awww, I love this show!

One thing has just occurred to me. What’s the age of concent in the US? Does it vary depending on state? These kids are 15, there’s no way that’s legal.

Conclusion to season 1

June 28, 2006

It’s a classic season. The first of any show is usually arguably the best as although they aren’t too big on funding, that could also been seen as an advantage as it’s all about the creative and general lack of corruption that comes from success.

I do love season 1 though it has a lot of classic episodes and I feel it has a yellow-orange-y mise en scene throughout whereas with season 2 you are thrown straight into spring, season 1 has a kind of endless summer feel. These moods being reflected in the boxset artwork.

Short and sweet sums it up I think.

113 Decisions

June 28, 2006

3 minutes in and I’m silent screaming about Jen’s grandfather waking up. 4 minutes in and I’m screaming about Joey getting the opportunity to go to France. I’ve seen it all before but still, it’s amazing and awesome. And there is the music behind Joey’s comment about her father being in prison. This is TV production at it’s finest.

This is an interaction heavy episode. I’ve spent a lot of it screaming and talking at the TV. That is the way it should be really, especially with a season finale. All in all, it’s an awesome episode. Perhaps not one I would usually pick which it probably should be, it’s a little underappreciated.

Awww, and now they are kissing! It’s all soooo beautiful!

112 Beauty Contest

June 28, 2006

Joey: Things change Dawson
Dawson: They don’t have to
Joey: Yes they do. Everything changes

Is Dawson finally seeing a romantic side to Joey? I think he is.

You know, it’s interesting that Pacey entering the Miss Windjammer beauty contest is less weird than Joey entering the Miss Windjammer beauty contest.

111 Double Date

June 27, 2006

Interesting episode. It used to be high cringe factor for me but I got through this time without a problem. Oh and Mitch and Gail hugging at the end, it was so beautiful! With Robbie Williams – She’s The One playing in the background too, awwww :tear:.

And then at the end Pacey confronts Dawson about the Jen Joey issue with the emotically climatic finale, it almost makes me want to silent scream even though it’s not really a scream moment (as it’s for dramatics not emotional pressure really).

110 The Scare

June 26, 2006

Cliff and Jen on a date? That's crazy.

Jen: She likes you… not, not a good sign

Anyway, wow, an episode that starts with the word the. I love this episode! It's one of my favourite alongside Detention from season 1. Plus Dawson and Jen almost kissed again! I don't remember that.

And the whole emo bit at the end when Dawson and Joey are talking about how devestated they would be if one of them died. It's sooo beautiful! I need to stop ending posts with that exact phrase.

109 Roadtrip

June 25, 2006

Another Billy episode but it's not like I hate the guy too much. Plus the whole Joey Warren thing is quite an amusing situation. And the whole Dawson Pacey chit chat bonding type thing waiting for a bus was cool too. Plus even Joey and Jen were doing the friendly bonding thing as well. It's all so beautiful! :) .

108 Boyfriend

June 25, 2006

Ah the episode where Jen's ex Billy shows up. I was never a massive fan of this episode. Not that I didn't like it, it's just that I didn't feel like watching it much.  At the end I saw Billy packing up his bag to leave but it then clicked that this wasn't good news, as I knew what was going to happen next.

One great thing about the episode is the mise en scene at the end scene though when Jen gives Dawson the talk. It's like completely black almost in the background with the characters illuminated in the foreground, it's beautiful cinematography.
